Product Description
We are delighted to present our new range of British made carved chopping and presentation boards, hand crafted in British Oak. The entire process, from seasoning through selection, sawing, shaping, carving and oiling, results in each of our boards being totally unique, full of character and craftsmanship and quintessentially British.
Choose from medium or large boards and decide whether you want the message on the main face of the board to be portrait or landscape orientation. Each board can be personalised on any or all of its sides – please see details below.
The board has its own unique characteristics depending on the tree and the part of the tree it originates from. Some will have decorative medullary rays on the edges or one or more faces. These rays are formed from ribbon like groups of cells which conveyed sap through the trunk of the Oak, putting them the heart of the growing process. Others will have small knots which have formed naturally during the growth cycle of the tree. Each board will also have its own unique colouring depending on the age and life of the tree it originates from. All of these naturally occurring characteristics add to the individuality of your chopping board.
Wood has a natural tendency to curve with changes in humidity and the larger the surface area, the more prone the wood is to warping. Our medium rectangular chopping boards are each made from a single piece of oak and are strong and stable. The large rectangular boards and the round boards are made from two pieces of oak, carefully matched for grain pattern and colour and traditionally joined in opposing halves to create a natural tension within the board, minimising the risk of warping and cracking.
The board features a “Queen of the Kitchen” design making it a perfect gift. The decorated board face is great for use as a presentation board when serving food. The other side of the board is left blank so it can be used as a chopping board.
We can carve messages into any or all of the 4 sides to create a truly personal gift. We are only limited by your imagination (and character count!) but examples could include personal messages for friends or loved ones on special occasions such as weddings, new home and birthdays. You could include the date or special year, or simply a “Love Fred & Sue x” message.
